Making cable joints
Cable joints are also called cable heads. The joints at the two ends of the cable line are called terminal heads, the middle joint is called intermediate joints, and the terminal heads and intermediate joints are collectively called cable heads. After the cable is laid, in order to make it a continuous line, each segment of the line must be connected as a whole, and these connection points are called cable joints. The cable connector is used to lock and fix the incoming and outgoing wires, and play the role of waterproof, dustproof and shockproof.
The cable head is generally made on-site after the cable is laid in place. Its main function is to make the circuit unblocked, keep the cable sealed, and ensure the insulation level at the cable joint, so that it can operate safely and reliably. If the seal is not good, not only will the oil leak and cause the oil-impregnated paper to dry, but also moisture will invade the inside of the cable and reduce the insulation performance of the paper.
There are many methods for making cable heads, but currently most of them are heat shrinkable and cold shrinkable. Compared with heat-shrinkable cable heads, cold-shrinkable cable heads are easy to manufacture; they are less affected by human factors, and cold-shrinkable cable accessories will keep synchronized breathing with the cable as the cable expands and contracts, so that the cable and accessories are always maintained Good combination state and other advantages, but the cost is high. The main advantage of heat-shrinkable cable heads compared with cold-shrinkable cable heads is low cost. Therefore, cold-shrinkable cable heads are widely used in the fields above 10KV.
